Making the transition from being a student to ???

It has been a busy few weeks since my defense. Of course, there was all of the paperwork with finishing up the degree. Then, I had to get health and car insurance figured out, doctor's and eye appointments, registration to become a psychologist, and lots of other errands. Plus, I have started doing some work at my new place of employment (not full-time, just a little bit of contract work). I have also finally regained somewhat of a social life- some highlights include seeing a few plays with a new friend (West Side Story and Romeo & Juliet), going to a fireworks competition (see photos below), and heading to Banff on Saturday with some new girlfriends. Fun times! Also, the most exciting news of all, I have finally purchased my very own new car (again, see photos below!)!!!! It was a very defining moment despite the feeling of signing my life away!:) It will be nice, though, to not have to rely on transit anymore!
Anyways, that's it for now! Will try and write again soon although the coming week will be busy as my sister finally arrives in Calgary (on my birthday, no less!).

Sometimes we forget how truly blessed we are

Today, I was reminded of the love of family and friends. After completing my oral, I came home tired and was having a nap when I was surprised by a second phone call by my mom accompanied by a knock at the door. To my delight, my parents and sister had sent me flowers to congratulate me on finishing my Master's! I almost cried!

Soon after, Lanis came and picked me up to go to dinner. What I thought was going to be dinner with Peter, Amanda, Lanis and Tim, turned into a surprise dinner with many other people to celebrate as well! It was certainly unexpected (they kept it a secret from me all week)! Further, I was surprised with balloons and gifts! (including a Chris Tomlin CD hehe!):) What a great way to celebrate- it was almost a little overwhelming! The importance of relationships has been weighing on my mind in the last little while but due to the stresses of the thesis, I know it has been something I have neglected. Today, I was reminded that these great friends certainly haven't forgotten me!

I passed my thesis oral examination! What a relief! Thus, I am no longer a student. Weird but great all at the same time!:) Celebrating with friends tonight and then hopefully a REALLY long sleep! Will write again soon!
